The Movement Centre’s specialist therapy, Targeted Training, has been developed to help children with movement disabilities gain control of their movement. Many of the children we see have one of the following diagnoses, such as Cerebral Palsy, or Global Developmental Delay but we welcome any family to come to The Movement Centre who may benefit from Targeted Training therapy. We would recommend that you contact The Movement Centre to discuss how we may be able to help. Many of the children we support have one of the diagnosis listed below:
Cerebral Palsy is the name for a group of lifelong conditions that affect movement and co-ordination, caused by a problem with the brain that occurs before, during or soon after birth.
Down Syndrome, also known as trisomy 21, is a genetic condition that typically causes some level of learning disability and certain physical characteristics.
Global Developmental Delay is the term used when a child takes longer to reach certain development milestones than other children their age.
An Acquired Brain Injury is an injury caused to the brain since birth. There are many possible causes, including a fall, a road accident, tumour and stroke.
Genetic Disorders We see any children who have a genetic disorder. It is estimated that one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder and therefore 30,000 babies and children are newly diagnosed in the UK each year.
Undiagnosed To access Targeted Training therapy, your child does not need to have a diagnosis.Your child may not have a diagnosis yet. We offer a free initial assessment, funded through charitable support, to determine whether your child will benefit from a course of Targeted Training.
If you feel your child is not making the progress they should or they have been delayed in their development, then we may be able to help. Please get in touch.
